► INCA EMPIRE - RUINS TAMBO COLORADO |
|
|
During the first years of reign of the Inca Pachacutec, he sent his brother Cápac Yupanqui to the Pisco valley to conquer it as well as the lands of the Lord of Chincha. This region is a natural corridor, which connects the towns in the mountains with the towns in the coast. This corridor was used from pre-Inca cultures as well. After at least 3 confrontations with the Chinches, the Inca Empire annexed this region to its empire. Under the regimen of the Inca Tupac Yupanqui were built administrative centers. That is the way Tambo Colorado was built. It is nowadays the best preserved archaeological Inca ruins in the coast of Peru and represents the Inca engineering and architecture skills. You are able to see a part of the original paintings at the walls in red, yellow and white.
